Make A Plate Of Cham Cham At Home In 5 Easy Steps

Cham cham, also referred to as Chom-Chom, is one of the most exquisite Bengali sweet recipes that are popular all over the Indian subcontinent. It is a traditional Bengali sweet that is made in a variety of colors, but are mainly available in pink, yellow or white variants. The sweet is also covered with mawa or coconut flakes that are used as a garnish. One piece can contain as much as 175 calories, but you won’t feel guilty after its delicious taste.

The cham cham recipe is a relatively easy process to follow. If you can carry out the steps carefully, then making a plateful of cham cham is an easy task. 

Ingredients - Four cups of milk, two teaspoons of green cardamom in powder form, two tablespoons of lemon juice, two tablespoons of chopped almonds, four tablespoons of khoya, one handful of pistachios, four cups of water and 1.5 cups of sugar. So, these are the important ingredients required to make cham cham at home.

Preparation - Follow these 5 steps to make the delicious homemade cham cham:

Step 1 - Make the chhena first. Boil milk in a large container over medium flame. Add some lemon juice and allow the milk to curdle. Now pour this milk into a muslin cloth and under running water rinse it thoroughly. Squeeze the excess water.

Step 2 - Hang the muslin cloth for an hour and make sure to knead the chhena well. Now, make oval-shaped balls of the chhena. The next thing you will need to do is to prepare the sugar syrup. Take some sugar and boil it in water until it gets a thick consistency.

Step 3 - As the sugar syrup is ready, add the chhena balls into it and let them soak in it. Now you will need to prepare the stuffing by using the khoya. Take the khoya, pistachios, and cardamom and make sure to mix them well.

Step 4 - After 8-10 minutes, remove the chhena balls from the sugar syrup and place them on a plate. Let the excess syrup drip down and allow the balls to become dry.

Step 5 - In the last stage, you will need to slit the chhena balls and stuff the khoya mixture inside. While presenting it, sprinkle some crushed pistachios and almonds over them.
