The recipe of Masoor Dal Khichdi is a one pot dish for the times you badly wants to have some tasty meal and can’t really wait for it.

There was a long time misconception among people that the yummy dishes needs a lot of time & patience to make but then we are here to clear the misunderstandings out by giving the ways for the fun cooking. It takes only fifteen mins to make. And this is the one pot meals magic. 

So, here are the recipe with ingredients list & procedure of making the Masoor Dal Khichdi.

Ingredients for the Masoor Dal Khichdi:

  • 2 cup-Rice
  • 1 cup-pink lentils (Masoor dal)
  • 1/2 cup-Corn (optional)
  • 1/2 cup-Green peas (optional)
  • 1-Tomato
  • 1-Onion
  • 1 tsp-Garlic-Ginger paste
  • 1 tsp-Cumin seeds
  • 4-5-Cloves
  • 1/2 tsp-Black pepper
  • 3-Green Cardamom
  • 1-Brown Cardamom
  • 2-Bay leaf
  • 1 inch piece-Cinnamon stick
  • 4 tbsp-Vegetable oil
  • 3-4-Green chilli
  • Salt as per the taste
  • 1/2 tsp-Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp-Red chilli powder
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing

Preparation of making Masoor Dal Khichdi:

1. Wash, clean & soak the rice & lentils for one-two hours.
2. Keep the components ready. Heat the pressure cooker with oil & temper with cloves, cumin seeds, bay leaf, cardamom green, cinnamon stick and brown, black pepper. Once the cumin seeds starts crackling, drop the onion.
3. Fry onions until they are light golden in the color. Drop garlic-ginger paste & cook for another one-two mins until the fresh smell gone from the paste.
4. Drop sliced green chilli & tomato. Cook it with moderate flame until the tomato is mushy.
5. Drop green peas, salt, turmeric powder, corn, red chilli powder & soaked rice & lentils. Combine them properly.
6. Add 2.5 cup of water & cover the lid. Cook it in pressure cooker with high flame for 1 whistle, next keep the flame low & cook for another eight-nine mins until the khichdi cooked well. Open cooker, decorate with cutted coriander leaves, pour some ghee & distribute hot.
7. Your Masoor Dal Khichdi is ready.
